== CWO Introduction The latest in our series of translations from the journal _Kommunist_ of 1918 goes under the unpromisingly dry title of “Some Fundamental Concepts of Modern Economics”. This though belies its importance and interest. As we have noted previously, the contributors to _Kommunist_ came together largely over two issues. They viewed the signing of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk in March 1918 as an error which would set back the world revolution, and they feared that Russia was heading towards a new form of capitalism, state capitalism.
